The 5A Club

I stumbled into an article about making or breaking your life between 5-7A. Of course, being a morning person, I was intrigued. I read the article, and watched this guy’s 14min 11sec video, just for fun. The title of this video was “How To Wake Up Early”. If you know me you know that I don’t really need help here, but I am always interested to learn other people’s perspectives, so had a listen/watch.

While I think this guy had some interesting and arguably valuable suggestions, let me save you some time and summarize for you.

Question: How To Wake Up Early?

Answer: JUST F’ING WAKE UP EARLY!

Ok, before you flame me for being a smartass, let me share the ultra-critical point that he did not say in his article or his video.

The key thing to keep consider when answering the above question is this:

You have to truly WANT to get up early if you stand any
sort of chance actually getting up early.

No, I don’t mean that you can just will yourself to wake up early for that 6:30A flight and everything will be fine. Do NOT try this at home and then yell at me because you missed your flight. If you try this you are an idiot and should immediately unfriend/unfollow me.

What I mean here is that all the tips, tricks, books, articles, TED talks, suggestions, hypnosis, meditation, reminders, etc. don’t mean jack squat if you truly don’t want to do it.

I don’t mean that you “want” to do it because it sounds cool, or you hear it’s good for you, or your friend does it and he seems like a successful guy, or you have a stack of books on your shelf that you read twice validating the approach.

Let me be ultra-clear here:

IF YOU DO NOT TRULY AND HONESTLY WANT TO DO IT AND ARE WILLING
TO SACRIFICE WHATEVER IT TAKES TO DO IT,
THEN IT WILL NOT EVER HAPPEN – PERIOD.

(Go make a meme of out that)

The same thing can be said for getting in shape, weight loss, making your business successful, learning a language, getting a job, etc.

I have worked with many people and businesses that allege to want to do something and have spent countless hours coaching, guiding, mentoring, leading (or whatever fancy term you want to put here) – and nothing happens.

Why doesn’t it happen? Because deep down, they don’t truly want it.

Again, to be clear, I am NOT saying that they don’t care. I am NOT saying that people don’t care that their waist size is 4 sizes too large or that their business is not growing or that they are unemployed. They do care – no question.

BUT….

… and here’s the catch.

It is NOT a priority to them.

They care … just not enough to do something about it.

Hell, I have been there, and looking at my waist size am arguably there now. But all the counsel and advice you give somebody means absolutely nothing if they aren’t willing to make it a priority.

Let me recap here, for all of you fellow executive summary people:

You have to truly want something in order for it to happen.
This means you need to be willing do whatever it takes for this thing.
Which means that you need to be willing to make it a priority.

Now quick jacking around and go make it happen!!
