OK folks – this will be a quick post, so don’t worry.  But something needed to be said based on all the reactions I have seen so far (and there are a LOT) since the Cubs won the NLDS last night.

Cubs and Sox fans:  Why can’t we just get along and cheer for Chicago?  Ugh.

I have received more congratulations emails and text messages from St. Louis fans than I have from “Chicago” Sox fans.  What’s up with that?  I know a lot of folks in the St. Louis area and many of them, while of course not happy with the result, are congratulatory and wished us good luck in the NLCS.  Being from Chicago, I obviously know a lot of Sox fans.  No well wishes from most of them though.  Mostly what I hear is complaining about all the coverage that the Cubs are getting and how Wrigley/Cubs people are just looking for an excuse to party.

Newsflash folks:  The Cubs haven’t won a World Series in over 100 years and we just took a big step in the right direction.  I think that is worth celebrating.

Without ranting about the comments I have seen, I really do mean it.  Why can’t Chicago fans be happy for the “other” Chicago team when they are doing well?  Do you really have to be a hater?  Do you really want to see New York or LA win the National League over a team from your home city?  Are you that big of a hater?

Let’s everyone just take a deep breath, let us Cubs fans enjoy a little time in the limelight and as all of our mothers used to say:  If you don’t have anything positive to say, don’t say anything at all.  🙂
