Just Do It

(Sorry Nike, I am borrowing this one for today.  But don’t worry, I won’t be printing any t-shirts with it)

Just a very quick reminder that if you are thinking about, considering, or the thought popped into your head to visit someone, make a phone call, drop an email, or otherwise reach out to a friend or family member, my suggestion is this:

Yeah, it sounds simple, but I would argue that more often than not it is not acted upon.  So be “that” person that actually does follow up, respond, or make a visit.  Take the time out of your day to do it.  I promise it will be well worth it in the long run.

Why does this come to mind?  I have experienced, both first-hand, and indirectly through close friends, more than my fair share of people dying over the last couple years, give or take.  Lots and lots of stories about wishing they had reached out, visited for lunch, made that phone call, etc.  I’m not saying any of these people are bad, including myself by the way, so don’t take it that way.  Life happens, things get in the way, other things pop up in our busy lives.  Lord knows I get that.

So just a friendly reminder to you, and my self, to JUST DO IT.  Now.  Pony up.  Get on it.  No more excuses…
