More Randomness

random thoughts

Well, it’s that time again – time to visit that dark area of my brain I call “random thoughts”. It happens when I can’t organize my brain enough to focus on only one topic. Could be caused by a) lack of sleep, b) lack of caffeine, or c) both. I’m told that your brain is most effective 2-4 hours after you wake up. Not sure I buy that, but I should test that theory some time. I’m pretty good early and I know people that swear they are good late at night. That theory aside, here are my deep thoughts to consider for the day:

  • Change is Good – I know that statement runs contrary to popular belief, especially with many years of being an employer. But I really believe that it’s true. It keeps us fresh, presents us with new challenges, new opportunities, and avoids boredom. I’m not saying that change needs to happen on a daily basis, but I think the occasional strategic change can be a very good thing for most people. I’m going through that right now professionally and it’s been a really great experience at the end of the day. Challenging? Yes. But surely rewarding. Just something to noodle.
  • Bleacher Love – So I’ve been to a few games in the “new” bleachers now – sure did miss them. Right field opens up in another week so things should be fully functional soon. Every game I have been to has been really crowded in the bleachers, even it’s not in the rest of the stadium.   Bleacher fans are die hard, in my opinion. Can’t wait to get to more games!
  • Stadium Tour – It’s going to be tougher now that I have a new job starting, but I’m going to do my best to visit some baseball stadiums within driving distance with Evan. It’s a fun way to take in more baseball, but check out other teams parks as well. I’ve done it a few times myself when I used to travel a lot more, but I think Evan would really enjoy it as well. Just can’t afford to fly all over the place, so we’ll drive. Places like St. Louis and Milwaukee are no-brainers. Expanding the scope a bit would be Cincinnati, Detroit, and Cleveland.   Pittsburgh might be a stretch. The crazy things us baseball fans do. If anyone out there has any suggestions, please toss them my way.
  • Blackhawks – given that the NHL Finals start tonight, I would be remiss if I didn’t give a shout out to the Blackhawks. Given that the Tampa fan are being really weak from a sportsmanship perspective (limiting ticket sales and can’t wear Blackhawks stuff there ), I really want to beat them bad now. Of course, I wanted to win before. But now that Tampa has implemented that policy, I want to win even more. Click HERE for a link to that story, if you haven’t already heard about it.

That’s about all I have for randomness today. Perhaps I’ll douse myself in caffeine and come up with more tomorrow – or later.   Or maybe test the nighttime writing theory. There’s always the alcohol approach to writing, but I don’t prefer that. It’s kind of like drunk postings on Facebook at that point.  🙂

Hang in there – be well!!

Joe
